AUGUSTA – Due to unplayable field conditions at McGuire Field, Saturday’s scheduled games at the state American Legion baseball tournament have been moved to the University of Southern Maine at Gorham.

Four teams remain in the event, which originally was scheduled to conclude Wednesday until heavy rain throughout the week left both McGuire Field and the adjacent Morton Field unplayable.

Nova Seafood of Portland remains undefeated in the double-elimination event, while Gayton Post of Lewiston, Bessey Motors of South Paris and Gardiner each has one loss.

Under a revised schedule announced Friday, Gardiner will face Gayton Post at 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by Nova Seafood against Bessey Motors at 1 p.m.

The first game of the championship round will follow at 4 p.m. Saturday.

An if-necessary game to determine the state champion would be played at Augusta on Sunday at a time to be determined.

The state champion will advance to the Northeast regional tournament, which is scheduled to start on Aug. 14 at Bristol, Conn.
