ALBION – A co-worker of a 34-year-old Albion man who was shot and killed last week during a confrontation with a state trooper says the man had a dislike for police.
Johnathan Sullivan lost his construction job a week before the shooting, but friends and co-workers said he displayed no signs of depression.
Co-worker Dean Willoughby suggested that Sullivan’s dislike for police stemmed from a problem with authority. Diana Lee, the mother of Sullivan’s boss, said Sullivan had expressed frustration about being told by police to get his vehicle inspected.
Police say the shooting was the outgrowth of a domestic violence report by Sullivan’s wife. The trooper who shot Sullivan is on paid leave pending an investigation of whether the shooting was justified.
