Man charged with cruiser head-butts

GREENVILLE – A local man who allegedly broke three windows in the town’s police cruiser Saturday by ramming his head into them faces multiple charges.

Seth Thompkins, 30, was arrested and charged with criminal mischief, criminal threatening, refusing to submit to arrest and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants. His initial court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 15 in 13th District Court.

Greenville Officer Matthew Guilfoyle stopped Thompkins’ vehicle at 10:37 p.m. on Lily Bay Road for operating after suspension, according to Sgt. Jeff Pomerleau of the Greenville Police Department. During the stop, a “little wrestling match” ensued, Pomerleau said.

When Thompkins was put into the 2004 GMC pickup truck cruiser by Guilfoyle and Greenville Police Chief Scott MacMaster, he allegedly used his head to break three of the windows, Pomerleau said.

Thompkins was examined at the scene by C.A. Dean ambulance personnel before he was taken to Piscataquis County Jail in Dover-Foxcroft.
