HOULTON – Two juveniles have been charged with driving to endanger after an accident on a Houlton roadway Tuesday afternoon in which the teens allegedly were racing.

Lt. Daniel Pelletier of the Houlton Police Department said Tuesday the accident happened just before 1 p.m.

According to Pelletier, Alex Williams, 16, of Houlton was driving a 1993 Ford truck northwest on the County Road when he encountered Christopher Lezotte, 17, also of Houlton. The two allegedly began racing, with Lezotte also traveling northwest on County Road in the passing lane.

Lezotte lost control of the 2002 Chrysler car he was driving and it veered off the roadway and came to a stop, according to Pelletier. The vehicle did not have any damage, he said.

Williams had a passenger in his vehicle, but information on that individual was not immediately available. His vehicle also was not damaged.

There were no injuries to anyone involved.

Both teens were wearing seat belts.

The Houlton Fire and Ambulance Department arrived at the scene.

Houlton Police Department Officer Kris Calaman investigated the incident.
