BANGOR – Bangor International Airport will receive $1,066,054 in federal funding for improvements being made to its recently expanded terminal building, according to U.S. Rep. Michael Michaud, whose office announced the grant Wednesday in a press release.
The grant, awarded by the Federal Aviation Administration, will provide funding for the final phase of terminal improvements, including the installation of fire alarms and a passenger notification system.
“Bangor International Airport is in the process of making a lot of improvements and upgrades,” Michaud said. “I am pleased with the Federal Aviation Administration’s decision to award this funding to Bangor. The improvements at the airport will ensure increased safety and security for airport passengers.”
The FAA’s Airport Improvement Program provides grants to public agencies and to private owners and entities for the planning and development of public-use airports. AIP projects include improvements related to enhancing airport safety, capacity, noise sensitivity, security and environmental concerns.
