LEVANT – Local contractor Gregory K. Gagnon was cutting firewood on Lake Road last week when a tragic mishap occurred that led to his death.
He died from his injuries Monday at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. He was 47.
Gagnon was in the woods with Greg Ross on Aug. 7 when Ross saw a flash in his peripheral vision that he believes was a tree falling on Gagnon, according to a police report.
Gagnon was transported to the Bangor hospital by LifeFlight helicopter.
“We would like to thank the rescue teams, life-flight and the staff at Eastern Maine Medical Center, who gave Greg special care,” Gagnon’s obituary states.
Gagnon owned Gagnon Construction and operated it with his son, Jared Gagnon.
Relatives and friends may call on the family at their residence on Gasoline Alley at 2 p.m. today. A procession will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday from Gasoline Alley to Waugh Cemetery in Levant, where a graveside service will be held with the Rev. Kevin Newcomb officiating.
A tree planting ceremony is planned.
