28th annual Choir School
BANGOR – The 28th annual Choir School of St. John’s Episcopal Church, set for Aug. 18-22, is open to children and teens, grade two through college.
The Choir School features sacred music of classical composers, uses the training scheme of the Royal School of Church Music and provides an intensive week of learning and performing in the context of traditional Anglican liturgy.
Children receive individual and small-group instruction in singing and music theory. The course is open to young people of all faiths and those who are eager to learn and have fun experiencing new things.
Prior musical or singing experience is not necessary. Travis LaCombe, organist and choirmaster, will direct the camp with assistance from adult volunteers and experienced older choristers.
The community is invited to attend the final Festal Evensong performed by Choir School participants at 5:15 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at the church at 225 French St., directly behind John Bapst Memorial High School. The church is wheelchair-accessible, and child care will be provided.
