Energy-conservation forums slated for Bangor, Hermon

BANGOR – A group of Bangor area state lawmakers will hold two energy-conservation workshops next week in Bangor and Hermon.

Sen. Joseph Perry, D-Bangor, will serve as host of the workshops, which will feature expert advice on a variety of resources and tips area residents may be able to take advantage of to lower heating costs.

Co-hosted by House Majority Whip Sean Faircloth and Reps. Patricia Blanchette, Mike Dunn and Jackie Norton, all of whom are Bangor Democrats, the Bangor workshop is set for 6:30-8 p.m. Monday in the council chambers at City Hall.

Panelists will include:

. MaineHousing Energy Program Manager Kimberly Weed, who will talk about a variety of programs available to the public, including the Low Income Heating Assistance Program and MaineHousing’s Weatherization Program, Central Heating Improvement Program and Home Energy Loan Program.

. Dick Bacon of Efficiency Maine, who will discuss rebate programs including the state’s solar thermal and solar electrical system rebates, as well as home energy auditing services that are available.

. Bangor Fire Chief Jeff Cammack, whose topic will be home heating safety tips.

. Camden National Bank loan officer Cathy Maher, an authorized lender for MaineHousing’s HELP Loan.

. Danny Maher of Maher Heating, who will provide tips and ideas for homeowners who want to make their existing heating systems more efficient.

Co-hosted by Rep. David Richardson, R-Carmel, the Hermon session is scheduled for 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday in the Hermon High School auditorium.
