CORINTH – Corinth Wood Pellets LLC was back in business Friday a few hours after a fire erupted in a sawdust dryer.
The fire, reported at 12:20 p.m., was in a cyclone, which is a large rotary dryer for sawdust, according to George Soffron, chief executive officer. He said the company makes both hardwood and softwood pellets.
Corinth firefighters, who were assisted at the scene by Kenduskeag firefighters, had the fire out in about 20 minutes, Soffron said Friday.
Corinth Fire Chief Scott Bragdon said about 30 men responded to the alarm. The Levant Fire Department remained on standby for Kenduskeag, and Bradford Fire Department remained on standby for Corinth during the fire.
