LIMESTONE – Kelly Peers scored two second-half goals as Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Mathematics opened its schoolgirl soccer season with a 5-3 victory over Easton.

Jasmine Cote, Victoria St. Pierre and Eva Smith also scored for Limestone, while Audra Kirk made four saves on nine Easton shots.

Katrina Martin scored all three Easton goals, while Taylor Burtt made nine saves on 16 Limestone shots.

Houlton 3, Madawaska 1

At Houlton on Friday, Abby Kinens and Courtney Putnam each had a goal and an assist as the Shiretowners opened their season by topping the Owls.

Vanessa Sandstrom also scored for Houlton, while Amanda Fogarty added an assist and goalie Madison Lezotte made seven saves on 10 shots.

Olivia Pelletier scored an unassisted goal for Madawaska, while Stephanie Nadeau made six saves on 10 shots.
