Store clerk caught stealing on videotape

A female clerk at C&K Variety in Hermon apparently had been stealing from the cash register and over the weekend got caught on tape with her hand in the till, said Sgt. Michael Burgess of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department.

Michele Tilley, 24, of Hermon was summoned Monday for theft after taking a reported $529 while working shifts over the weekend, Burgess said.

Tilley, who was voiding out purchases and putting the money in her pocket, was visible breaking the law on the store’s video surveillance system, Burgess said. She is scheduled to appear in front of a judge in 3rd District Court in Bangor on Oct. 9. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)

Three Bangor men were arrested on burglary charges early on Saturday for their alleged involvement in stealing a bag of women’s clothing from an Essex Street home in Bangor.

The homeowner, who knew one of the suspects, called 911 at 5 a.m. Bangor police Officer James Hassard went to the area and found the three men hiding behind a nearby home, Sgt. Brad Johnston said Monday.

Tino Marino, 30, and Stephen Dill, 26, both of Bangor, and Christopher Gagnon, 30, who is listed as a Bangor area transient, were charged with burglary, a Class B felony. If convicted, the trio could face jail time of up to 10 years and a fine of up to $20,000.

All three were taken to Penobscot County Jail and had their first appearance on Monday in 3rd District Court in Bangor. All remained in jail Monday evening, a jail official said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
