Collins and labor

The ads portraying Susan Collins as labor’s best friend are pure fiction and her voting record shows it. These ads are sponsored by third party out-of-state anti-labor, anti-union groups.

Tom Allen has publicly announced that he will not allow third party ads in his campaign unless the message is a positive one. Obviously Susan Collins has not chosen to do the same as she continues to follow the Bush agenda in both how she votes and now how she campaigns.

It’s time we voters were treated to honest, open debates on the issues and not more spin. It makes you wonder why all the smoke and mirrors are necessary unless it’s to hide the fact that Susan Collins does not really represent the average Mainer. She does do a good job of giving big business all the breaks it needs. Don’t call Tom Allen , as one ad suggests, questioning his support of the rights of the working man. He has always protected and defended the rights of the working middle class.

Do call Susan Collins and ask her why she supported tax breaks for companies that move overseas, why she repeatedly voted against increasing minimum wage, and why she opposed overtime pay protections. The government is made up of “We the people” and not “We the big corporations” and we, the people, have it in our power to elect someone who will work diligently for us and not the other way around. Senator Collins promised to only run for two terms. We should help her keep her word and vote for Tom Allen in November.
