African children to sing in Bangor

BANGOR – Neighborhood Church invites the community to a night of singing, dancing and storytelling from the African Children’s Choir at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, at the church, 263 Texas Ave.

“We are so pleased to host 26 children from Africa,” said Senior Pastor Brian Haggerty. “They are selected from thousands of disadvantaged children to perform in the choir. Anyone who attends this concert will be inspired by their performance. All community members are invited to attend this incredible concert.”

The African Children’s Choir helps to bridge cultural differences and spread hope and joy to audiences throughout the world. The internationally acclaimed choir has performed before numerous dignitaries and appeared at some of the world’s most prestigious halls including the London Palladium, The International Club of Berlin and the Palais des Beuax-Arts in Brussels.

Each year a new choir is selected from children who are not only musical, but who come from some of Africa’s most desperate villages. Many have lost one or both parents to poverty or disease. The children sing on behalf of their brothers, sisters, friends and village.

The choir also is scheduled to sing at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, at Messiah Baptist Church on Union Street.
