Bergeron lifts Madawaska past Eagles

MADAWASKA – Audrey Bergeron scored the game- winner off of a Kallie Pelletier assist just 54 seconds into overtime as the Madawaska girls soccer team tripped up Limestone/Maine School of Science and Math 4-3 Wednesday.

Pelletier scored two goals for the 2-1 Owls. Susan Lavertu added a goal while Ashley Cyr and Valerie Parker provided assists. Stephanie Nadeau stopped eight of 11 shots.

Kellie Peers scored twice for the 2-1 Eagles. Rylee Leighton had a goal. Amanda Allen made 10 saves on 21 shots.

Fort Fairfield 7, Cen. Aroostook 2

At Fort Fairfield, Courtney Churchill scored two goals and assisted on another to lead Fort Fairfield past Central Aroostook of Mars Hill.

Rose-Mary Williams scored two goals for 2-1 Fort Fairfield. Kaitlyn McLaughlin had a goal and an assist. Keiza Bernaiche and Kaitlin Kinsey each added goals. Paige Beaulieu and Katy Donavan combined for two saves on five shots.

Kristin Long and Brittany Mosher scored for 0-2 Central Aroostook. Desray Brewer blocked 13 of 26 shots.

Washburn 2, Easton 0

At Washburn, Morgan Berube scored one goal and assisted on another by Lindsey Blackstone as the Washburn Beavers triumphed.

Meghan Sauicer had an assist for 1-1 Washburn. Rachel Palmer had two saves on three shots.

Taylor Burtt rejected 11 of 20 shots for 0-2 Easton.

Fort Kent 2, Van Buren 0

At Fort Kent, Katie Nadeau and Jamie Pelletier each scored to lead the Warriors to a season-opening victory.

Nadeau scored on an assist from Mary Grace Morris in the first half.

Pelletier scored unassisted in the second half, as the speedster converted after taking the ball in from midfield.

Carissa Pelletier earned the shutout in goal with eight saves on 10 shots for Fort Kent.

Van Buren also got a solid goaltending performance from freshman Ashlee Wilson, who made 19 saves on 23 shots.

Boys soccer

Madawaska, 10, LCS/MSSM 0

At Madawaska, Shawn Parker scored three goals and provided assists on four others to lead Madawaska to a shutout win over Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics.

Nathan A. Beaulieu also scored three goals for 3-0 Madawaska. Michael Cannan had one goal and three assists. Chris Lizotte, Jon Lee and Jeff Cyr also scored. Nathan P. Beaulieu stopped the only shot he saw.

Ty Tracy made 50 saves on 60 shots for 1-2 Limestone.

Fort Kent 9, Van Buren 0

At Fort Kent, Thomas Levesque scored four goals to lift Fort Kent over Van Buren.

Sam Bouchard, Shane Theriault, Chapin Scaggs and Jared Soucy each scored a goal and provided an assist for 1-0 Fort Kent. Cubby Naranja added a goal and Sam Chasse provided an assist. Matthew Harvey blocked both shots.

Lucas Roy made 27 saves on 36 shots for 0-1 Van Buren.

Fort Fairfield 2, Cen. Aroostook 0

At Fort Fairfield, Josh Churchill scored five minutes into the game to lift Fort Fairfield over Central Aroostook of Mars Hill.

Derek Dufour added an insurance goal with 2:30 left in regulation for 2-0 Fort Fairfield. Austin Dufour made six saves on seven shots.

Ross Grass blocked five of 14 shots for 0-3 for Central Aroostook.
