INDIAN ISLAND – The Indian Island Women’s Center is in need of donated school supplies to assist local families.
“We had over 200 families last year,” Rose Scribner, the center’s director, said Wednesday. “We’re shooting for 400 families with the economy as crazy as it is.”
She said any supplies would be appreciated, including backpacks, notebooks, pens and pencils.
“Since last Easter, we took on the extra families because of the gas [and] oil prices,” Scribner said. “Anything, anything would be of help.”
The center is a nonprofit organization that assists local families in need.
Donations may be dropped off between noon and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 19 West St., Indian Island.
