PORTLAND – The Portland Press Herald says claims by the North Yarmouth Academy boys’ soccer coach that he played on the 1984 U.S. Olympic team are untrue.
The newspaper reports that two representatives of U.S. Soccer say Josh Muscadin never played for the team in an official game at Los Angeles. In addition, two members of the team say they don’t recall Muscadin as a teammate or as part of the U.S. squad in the year of training that led up to the Games.
Muscadin told the Press Herald that he was a “secondary player” who was part of a practice squad that trained with the national squad and with the Olympians.
