BANGOR – A Glenburn man was indicted Monday by the Penobscot County grand jury on 22 counts of gross sexual assault and 22 counts of unlawful sexual contact.
Harold S. Ramsey Jr., 38, is scheduled to be arraigned Sept. 12 in Penobscot County Superior Court.
The alleged assaults took place over a three-year period and involved two victims, according to Michael Roberts, deputy district attorney for Penobscot County. Roberts referred to the case as “interfamilial.” He declined to release more details to prevent identification of the victims.
If Ramsey is convicted of gross sexual assault, a Class A crime, he faces up to 30 years in prison.
Ramsey was one of 19 people indicted this week due to a scheduling change that switched the day the grand jury convenes from the first Monday of the month to the fourth, Roberts said.
The change will allow more days during the first week of the month for calls of the docket and motion hearings, he said.
The grand jury next will convene on Sept 22.
