The passing of John Houlihan, M.D. is a great loss to his family, to his former patients and a significant loss to St. Joseph Hospital.
Among all his medical commitments, Dr. Houlihan agreed to be the St. Joseph hospice medical director when this program first began. He not only carried the title, he also gave his time and expertise without any remuneration. The budding hospice team learned much from him. He guided us in the beginnings of a newly developing venture and made the program truly viable. What a legacy.
Providentially, Dr. Houlihan in return had the benefits of St. Joseph Hospice support in his parting days. May Dr. Houlihan rest in peace.
