Christians, both Catholics and Protestants, other religions and people of good will cannot in good faith vote for Obama. He is on the wrong side on most key issues. On Roe v. Wade he said he would not only make abortion a priority, but he co- sponsored the Freedom Of Choice Act that would do away with all limitations on abortion including partial birth abortion. He opposed the partial birth ban while John McCain supported it.
On taxpayer funding of abortion he voted against a law to stop the use of tax dollars to pay for abortions. He also is against the Hyde amendment which prohibits tax dollars for Medicaid performing abortions, while McCain votes consistently against federal funding of abortions. He is against a Parental Notification Law for minors seeking abortions while McCain supports the law.
In the Illinois Senate he voted three times against a bill that would have allowed babies who survive an abortion to live the same as any baby that is spontaneously born prematurely. McCain voted to provide protection for babies that survive an abortion. Obama wants a litmus test for judges – they must be for abortion to get his nomination, while McCain believes judges should strictly interpret the law and not legislate.
Catholics especially should remember that Pope John Paul II wrote the moral gravity of procured abortion is apparent in all its truth if we recognize that we are dealing with murder. Mother Theresa said abortion is a war on unborn children. To win this war we must vote pro-life.
