BANGOR – The American Red Cross will open the Bangor donor center from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, in dedication to Teagan Baker.

She is a 3-year-old who was recently diagnosed with leukemia and is undergoing treatment at Eastern Maine Medical Center.

Baker is type O negative which is the highest in demand blood type.

Her family is asking all type O blood donors to replenish the low type O inventory. All presenting donors who donate on Saturday will receive a $50 entry ticket to the Sept. 14 high stakes bingo game at Sockalexis Bingo Palace, a $5 Dunkin’ Donuts gift card and a “proud Maine blood donor” T-shirt.
