Born in 1994, James is polite and well mannered. He enjoys activities that most boys his age enjoy. Among them he lists video games, television and being outside as favorites.
James has an ambitious goal for his future: He would like to develop video games for a big company.
He says he would base his ideas on and improve aspects of his favorite game, Dragon Ball Z. James knows he would need to do well in school to achieve that goal. He works hard in school and does quite well.
He likes to be outside when the weather is nice, and he enjoys swimming, bike riding and going on day trips. One of his favorite trips was to a petting zoo. After that trip James decided he wants to own a pet tiger someday. He said it wouldn’t matter if it were a white tiger or a Bengal tiger – he thinks they are both cool!
James does best in small groups with a lot of one-on-one attention. He gets along well with his peers and enjoys spending time with people his age. Sometimes, however, James gets a bit overwhelmed when there is a lot going on around him and needs some time to relax with a smaller group or by himself. It will be important for a family to understand that James uses this as a positive coping strategy and they should encourage him to continue doing it. James is one of 145 children currently in Maine Department of Health and Human Service care who are seeking an adoptive family. Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with Maine DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care.
