Police probe gun theft at Lewiston pawnshop

LEWISTON – Federal agents and Lewiston police are investigating the theft of more than a dozen guns from a Lewiston pawnshop.

The theft was reported late Wednesday night when a man with a hooded sweat shirt and a knapsack was seen fleeing from Pine Tree Trading on Lisbon Street.

A witness chased the man and police brought in tracking dogs, but the suspect got away.

Because firearms were taken in the break-in, federal investigators from the Central Maine Violent Crimes Task Force were sent to assist with the probe.
