Sept. 5 openings set for pair of art exhibits

BELFAST – Freedom artist Paul Oberst’s exhibit, “Temples/Locus of Intent” will open with a reception 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, and continues through Sept. 26 at Waterfall Arts Clifford Gallery.

Oberst has been carving, building, painting and printing templelike forms since 1981.

Also opening on Sept. 5 in the Fallout Shelter Gallery is “Long Overdue: Book Renewal” a selection of altered books from the Portland Library collection. The exhibit is part of Renewables, Belfast’s altered book project co-sponsored by the Belfast Library, Waterfall Arts and the Center for Maine Contemporary Art. The project includes demonstrations, workshops, artist talks and exhibits throughout the fall.

Hours at Waterfall Arts galleries, 256 High St., are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and until 8 p.m. Wednesday, and by appointment. For information call 338-2222 or visit waterfallarts.org.
