PORTLAND – Zach Daeges, Michael Bowden, Mickey Hall and Iggy Suarez were recognized as the Portland Sea Dogs announced their annual team awards prior to their final regular-season home game. The awards are voted on by the fans.
Daeges, an outfielder, was named Most Valuable Player after hitting .307 with 34 doubles, three triples, six home runs and 63 RBIs. Bowden, who recently made his major league debut with the Boston Red Sox, was named the Pitcher of the Year, going 9-4 with a 2.33 ERA and 101 strikeouts in 19 games.
Outfielder Hall was honored with the 10th Player Award. Hall has a .232 average with 16 doubles, 2 triples, 13 home runs and 35 RBIs in 81 games with Portland. The Citizen of the Year Award went to infielder Suarez for the second straight year.
