PRESQUE ISLE – Russ Mortland had two goals and an assist as Presque Isle opened its schoolboy soccer season with a 7-0 victory over Caribou on Tuesday.

Warren Zubrick, Wilder York, Josh Allen and Isaac Lajoie each added a goal and an assist for Presque Isle, while Nate Ackerson contributed a goal and Drew Long and Carter Christiansen each had an assist.

Dillon Kingsbury earned the shutout in goal by stopping all four shots he faced.

Eric Brown saved 11 of 18 shots for 1-1 Caribou.

JV: Presque Isle 3-0

Easton 4, Ashland 3

At Easton, Corey Smith scored the second of his three goals with 24:33 left, snapping a 2-2 deadlock to spark the Bears to victory.

Smith scored two goals off assists from Brad Trask, including the game-winner. Trask also tallied a goal with Holden Turner posting the assist. Cody Tompkins made 16 saves on 34 shots for 6-1 Easton.

Kenny Tarr scored one goal and assisted on another to pace 3-1 Ashland. Taylor Condon and Casey Cobb netted a goal each, while Jacob Paradis provided two assists. Bobby Gardiner made five saves on 21 shots.

Madawaska 6, Van Buren 0

At Madawaska, Nathan Beaulieu, Shawn Parker and Mike Cannan each had a goal and an assist to spark Madawaska by Van Buren.

Jeff Cyr, John Lee and Christian Lizotte each added a goal for Madawaska. Jamie Cyr stopped both shots he faced for the 7-0 Owls.

Nathan Lapointe stopped 15 of 28 shots for 1-6 Van Buren.

CAHS 7, Washburn 0

At Mars Hill, Manny Martinez scored two goals and notched two assists to carry Central Aroostook to victory.

Dan Brewer chipped in with two goals and an assist for the 4-3-1 winners and brothers Zack and Spencer Stetson each added a goal. Garrett Stiles also scored a goal and Nate Donovan had an assist. Ross Grass didn’t have to make a save on Washburn’s five shots.

For 1-6 Washburn, Justin Howe made nine saves on 36 shots.

Girls soccer

Fort Fairfield 2, Hodgdon 2

At Hodgdon, Kaitlyn McLaughlin scored her second goal of the match with just 48 seconds remaining in the second half to rally Fort Fairfield to the tie.

McLaughlin was assisted on the game’s first goal by Courtney Churchill, and by Kacie York on the tying goal.

Katie Duff and Kariann Estabrook each scored an unassisted goal to stake 1-1-1 Hodgdon to a 2-1 halftime lead.

Paige Beaulieu made eight saves on 19 shots for 4-2-1 Fort Fairfield. Emmaly Jurson made 13 saves on 38 shots for Hodgdon.

Ashland 3, Easton 0

At Easton, Taylor Baker made eight saves on 11 shots to earn the shutout as Ashland blanked Easton.

Brooke Labelle, Jessica Jimmo and Andora Good each netted a goal for Ashland. Crystal Cook grabbed an assist for the 4-0 Hornets.

Taylor Burtt stopped 27 of 32 shots for 1-6 Easton.

Washburn 1, Cen. Aroostook 0

At Mars Hill, Charley Chandler scored the game’s only goal with 22 minutes remaining in the game to lead Washburn past Central Aroostook of Mars Hill.

Rachel Palmer stopped three of four shots for the 5-2 Beavers.

Vicki McIntyre made six saves on 16 shots for the 2-6 Panthers.

Fort Kent 2, Madawaska 0

At Fort Kent, Taylor Boucher and Shelby Taggett each scored a goal in the second half to propel Fort Kent to victory over Madawaska.

Gabby Naranja grabbed an assist while Carissa Pelletier stopped all three shots she faced for the 4-1 Warriors.

Stephanie Nadeau made 13 saves on 26 shots for 3-2 Madawaska.
