PARIS – A 32-year-old Sumner man has pleaded not guilty to murder in the shooting deaths of two men in West Paris.

Duane Waterman entered his plea Wednesday in Oxford County Superior Court.

Waterman is charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of 50-year-old Timothy Mayberry of West Paris and 43-year-old Todd Smith of Paris, who were found shot to death on July 26 at Mayberry’s residence.

At the hearing, the judge set a trial date for next May. Waterman’s attorney also asked that a bail hearing be scheduled.
