Manatt-Rogers leads Mariners past Clippers

CASTINE – Diana Manatt-Rogers’ goal in the 58th minute propelled Maine Maritime Academy to a 2-0 women’s soccer victory over UMaine-Machias Wednesday.

Dana Innis assisted on Manatt-Rogers goal while Katie Hutchinson added another for Maine Maritime. Lacey Jackson had five saves

Stephanie Wunderley recorded 14 saves for UM-Machias.

Babson 5, Saint Joseph’s 2

At Babson Park, Mass., senior Shir Castel scored two goals and assisted another as Babson College defeated Saint Joseph’s College of Standish.

Patty Pytlik, Jackie Graham and Kayla Pomponi added goals for 1-1 Babson. Sam Scarpato stopped one of three shots.

Mikayla Call scored an unassisted goal in the first half for 0-2 Saint Joseph’s. Jessica Needham scored off a Call assist in the second half. Katye Mayo made six saves on 20 shots.

Men’s soccer

MMA 2, UM-Machias 0

At Castine, the host Mariners scored twice in the first half to defeat UMaine-Machias.

Josh McFarlin scored from the top of the penalty area in the 28th minute while Pat Somma booted home a cross from Dan Hasssett later in the half. Randy Bartlett had three saves on 13 shots for the Mariners.

Adam Mauro stopped three of 12 shots for the Clippers.

Southern Maine 1, UNE 0 (OT)

At Biddeford, Sanisa Bajic scored 1:21 into overtime to give the University of Southern Maine of Gorham the win over the University of New England.

Southern Maine’s Steve May stopped four of seven shots for his first shutout.

The Huskies stay undefeated at 2-0-1.

Derek Poulin made three saves on 12 shots for the 1-1 Nor’easters.
