ORONO – Music, ice cream, sales, children’s games, natural history walks. Enjoy it all when the town holds its annual Orono Village Festival 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6.

Mill Street will be closed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., and there will be no parking on Mill Street after 2 a.m. All cars in the street will be towed by 6 a.m., said Orono police Sgt. Josh Ewing.

The event kicks off with a pancake breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. at the Orono Fire Station. Vendor booths will open at 9 a.m. downtown, with children’s games beginning at 11 a.m.

The following performances will be held throughout the day at the Mill Street stage:

. 10 a.m., Velma.

. 11 a.m., Sam/John Whitman.

. Noon, Evergreen.

. 1 p.m., Ragged Moon.

. 2 p.m., Souder & Williams.

The Friends of the Orono Public Library will hold an ice cream social to benefit the Orono Public Library Foundation noon-3 p.m. at the Orono Fire Station. The cost is $2 for a regular bowl, $5 for a bottomless bowl. For more information about the festival, call 866-5065.

The Orono Health Association Thrift Shop, in conjunction with Orono Festival Day, will have fall and winter merchandise for sale 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6. Tickets for raffle items also will be available.

The Orono Land Trust will offer two guided natural history walks from its booth at the Orono Festival on Saturday, Sept. 6, downtown.

Jeremy Wilson, University of Maine assistant professor of forest management, will lead walks along part of the Orono Land Trust’s Stillwater River Trail at 10 a.m. and noon.

Sign up at the Orono Land Trust booth at least 15 minutes before departure time. Those of all ages are welcome. The walk will follow an unpaved trail along the river. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and dogs on a leash.
