MADISON – An aide to Madison High School Principal Colin Campbell has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $26,000 from student accounts.

Karen Franzose of Madison pleaded guilty Wednesday to a theft charge.

She paid full restitution as part of an agreement in which she was spared from going to jail. She also was ordered to pay a $2,000 fine and to give $2,000 to Madison High School Sports Boosters.

Prosecutors say Franzose had access to the checkbook and bank statements of the student activities account and that she stole from the account during a two-year period. The school board last month accepted her resignation.
