Poulin, Labelle spark Hornets

PRESQUE ISLE – Suzie Poulin booted home the game-winner from the top of the penalty area in the 53rd minute to lift the host Ashland Hornets to a 3-1 high school girls soccer victory over Van Buren Tuesday.

Brooke Labelle added an insurance goal in the second half while Jessica Jimmo scored in the first for 6-0 Ashland. All three goals were unassisted. Taylor Boucher had two saves on three shots, and was scored upon for only the second time all season.

Kristy Learned tallied an unassisted second-half goal for 6-3 Van Buren. Ashlie Wilson came up with 10 saves on 16 shots.

Easton 4, East Grand 0

At Easton, Ariana Babineau had a hat trick with three goals as Easton shut out East Grand of Danforth.

Brooke Hammon added a second-half goal for 3-8 Easton. Katrina Martin and Danielle Dudley provided assists. Taylor Burtt blocked all three shots.

Courtney Lloyd made 20 saves on 36 shots for 0-2 East Grand.

Boys soccer

Easton 6, East Grand 0

At Easton, Brad Trask scored two goals and assisted on two others to lead the Bears by the East Grand Vikings of Danforth.

Holden Turner scored two goals for the 9-2 Bears. Corey White and Tony Brown each scored a goal. Freshman goalie Cody Tompkins stopped six of seven shots for his third shutout.

Abe Brittain made 20 saves on 28 shots for the 0-2 Vikings.

Ashland 6, Van Buren 0

At Presque Isle, Jacob Paradis scored two goals and assisted another to lead Ashland past Van Buren.

Kenny Tarr had a goal and two assists for the Hornets. Taylor Condon, Jeremy Tarr and Casey Cobb scored. Royce MacDonald and Lucas Hafford provided assists. Bobby Gardiner blocked seven of eight shots.

David Levasseur turned away 13 of 28 shots for Van Buren.

Caribou 3, Fort Kent 1

At Caribou, Cameron Anderson scored a goal and assisted another as Caribou defeated Fort Kent.

Brandon Caverhill and Chad McCarthy scored goals for 3-1-1 Caribou. Eric Brown stopped eight of 10 shots.

Thomas Levesque scored off a Sam Chasse assist with 13 minutes left in regulation for 4-2 Fort Kent. Matt Harvey turned away six of 14 shots.
