Caribou girls edge Owls Southern Aroostook, Hodgdon post victories

CARIBOU – Jessica Zyblut’s first-half goal off an Emily Collins assist proved to be the game-winner as Caribou improved to 3-2 with a 2-0 schoolgirl soccer victory over Madawaska Wednesday.

Amanda Cyr added an insurance goal with 18:07 remaining in regulation. Jenna Selander notched the assist.

Brittany Doak made four saves on seven shots while Stephanie Nadeau made 13 saves on 33 shots for 4-3 Madawaska.

JV: Caribou 4-0

So. Aroostook 4, Woodland 0

At Dyer Brook, Brittany Charette, Janel Rockwell and triplets Elizabeth and Evangeline Goodall scored as Southern Aroostook improved to 5-0.

Emily Cummings and Mallary Lawlor combined to make eight saves.

Taylor Cochran made 25 saves for 2-1 Woodland.

Hodgdon 3, Wisdom 1

At Hodgdon, Britta Oliver and Kim Levesque netted unassisted goals to lead Hodgdon past Wisdom of St. Agatha.

Dayna Tidd knocked home a Taylor Hovey pass for the 2-3-1 Hawks. Emmaly Jurson had one save on three shots.

Chelsea Collin tallied an unassisted goal for 0-7 Wisdom. Suzie Collins saved 11 of 28 shots.

Washburn 1, Katahdin 0

At Stacyville, Morgan Berube scored an unassisted goal in the 35th minute to lift Washburn to its seventh victory.

Rachel Palmer stopped all four shots in net for the 7-4 Beavers.

Jade Clippinger saved two of three shots for 0-3 Katahdin.

Messalonskee 2, Brewer 1

At Brewer, Alison Omsberg scored the tying goal in the second half and assisted on Samantha Gagne’s game-winner with 12 minutes remaining in regulation as Messalonskee of Oakland rallied past Brewer.

Sarah Jacques made five saves for 2-0 Messalonskee.

Katie McLaughlin scored a first-half goal for 0-2 Brewer and Hannah Simmons finished with 19 saves.

JV: 1-1

Hampden 3, Lawrence 0

At Hampden, Julia Snyder made 13 saves on 15 shots and Chelsea Kuzio recorded a goal and an assist to lead the Broncos past the Bulldogs of Fairfield.

Ashley Robinson and Katie Chambers each chipped in with a goal for the 1-1 winners and Michaela Stephenson notched two assists.

Jess Poulin made eight saves on 11 shots for 1-1 Lawrence.

Boys soccer

Wisdom 6, Hodgdon 1

At Hodgdon, Chris Ouellette scored two second-half goals to help lead Wisdom of St. Agatha past Hodgdon.

Kurtis Daigle scored in each half for the Pioneers. Alex Michaud had a goal and three assists. Curtis Picard added a goal and Kyle Daigle provided an assist. Curtis Collins made nine saves on 12 shots.

Jake Tidd scored in the second half off a Josh Murchie assist for Hodgdon. Dan McGillicuddy blocked 11 of 23 shots.

Houlton 2, Schenck 1 (OT)

At East Millinocket, Pat Longstaff scored unassisted with 2:41 left in overtime to give Houlton the win.

Justin Haggerty added a goal and Gary Fowler an assist for the 2-5 Shiretowners. Ryan Vanbuskirk had 15 saves on 22 shots.

Aaron Hutchins scored an unassisted goal in the second half for 0-2-1 Schenck. Jerome York stopped 22 of 28 shots.

JV: Schenck 1-0

Katahdin 9, Washburn 0

At Stacyville, Marshall Davis scored four goals and assisted on another as Katahdin defeated Washburn.

Ethan Qualey added two goals for Katahdin. Billy Duffy, Matt Kay and Colby Gallagher scored. Matt Tarr and Jesse McNally combined for six saves on 10 shots.

Justin Howe saw 30 shots and saved 13 for Washburn.

Messalonskee 6, Brewer 3

At Oakland, Cameron Omsberg scored four goals to lift Messalonskee over Brewer.

Nathan Snow added two goals for the 2-0 Eagles. Andrew Wilson made 11 saves on 18 shots.

Luke Thomas led 0-2 Brewer with two goals. Ryan Nadeau scored a goal as Brian Kearns stopped 14 of 22 shots.

JV: Brewer 3-0
