AUGUSTA – The Boston Celtics’ 2008 world championship trophy is scheduled to make a couple of curtain calls in Maine on Sept. 24 – the day the governor has declared Boston Celtics Day in the State of Maine.
Gov. John Baldacci says a former and a current Celtics player are expected to accompany the trophy to Portland and Orono. Also in the entourage will be members of the Celtics Dancers and team mascot Lucky the Leprechaun. Members of the Celtics front office are expected to join the group in Portland.
The trophy will first be on display at The Portland Expo in Portland (noon to 2 p.m.).
Later (from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.) it will be on display at the Alfond Arena on the University of Maine campus in Orono. Both events are free and open to the public.
