Qualey powers Cougars Presque Isle boys improve to 3-0-1

DYER BROOK – Ethan Qualey scored four goals, including a natural hat trick in the first half, as Katahdin of Stacyville remained undefeated with a 4-2 boys soccer victory over Southern Aroostook.

Marshall Davis had two assists for the 4-0 Cougars, while Matt Carr made 18 saves on 21 shots.

David Dubois and Patrick Goodall each scored for 2-3-1 Southern Aroostook, while Dakota Sleeper and Jake Lassonde each contributed an assist. Dillon Boulier made 18 saves on 23 shots for the Warriors.

Presque Isle 5, Central 0

At Presque Isle, Josh Allen scored two goals and Russ Mortland had a goal and two assists as the Wildcats remained unbeaten.

Eric Morris and Wilder York also scored for 3-0-1 Presque Isle, while Warren Zubrick and Carter Christianson each added an assist.

Dillon Kingsbury stopped all seven shots he faced to earn the win in goal.

Cole Haskell made 18 saves on 23 shots for 1-1-2 Central of Corinth.

JV: Presque Isle 7-1

Wisdom 7, Van Buren 1

At St. Agatha, Kody Chamberland scored three of his four goals in the second half to power the Pioneers to victory.

Alex Michaud and Kurtis Daigle each provided a goal and an assists for the 3-6 Pioneers, while Rocky Chamberland, Kody’s twin brother, scored one goal. Curtis Daigle made 11 saves on 13 shots.

Derrik Rossignol scored for 1-8 Van Buren. David Levasseur came up with 10 saves on 27 shots.

Washington Acad. 14, J-Beals 1

At Jonesport, Sung Min Kim had four goals and an assist to lead the Raiders to victory.

Monty Zhou added two goals for the winners, while Noah von Rotz, Will Manchester, Nick Forte, Mike Knowles, Milos Gautier, Nick Hixson, Patrick Gardner and Tyler Librizzi each scored once for 1-1 WA.

Sid Look scored for 0-2 Jonesport-Beals on an assist from Matt Alley.

Look and Travis Alley combined to make 25 saves on 56 shots.

Sam Stevens made five saves on seven shots for WA.

Woodland 4, Shead 3 (2OT)

At Woodland, Kyle Pike scored the game-winning goal with 4:28 left in double overtime off a Chad James assist to give the Dragons a win over Shead of Eastport.

James scored two goals – including the game-tying one with 1:28 left in regulation time – and assisted on two others for the 2-1 Dragons. Scott Boomer had the other goal and Tom Putnam had an assist. Ryan Lincoln made 14 saves on 17 shots.

Justin Lewey, Steve Seeley, and Thomas Stanhope each scored a goal for the 0-1 Tigers. Tyler Mitchell had 20 saves on 24 shots.

Machias 4, Narraguagus 2

At Machias, Jacob Dahl had a goal and an assist to lead the Machias Bulldogs past Narraguagus of Harrington.

Jacob Stevens, Justin Weaver and Matt Little each had one goal for the 3-0 Bulldogs. Mike Jenkins had 12 saves on 17 shots.

Nate Best and Jesse Worcester each scored unassisted goals for the 2-1 Knights. Brandon Penney made 14 saves on 22 shots.

Ellsworth 4, GSA 0

At Blue Hill, Jake Jordan, Matt Duhaime, Pat Kelly and Zach Emeigh had goals for Ellsworth, Andrew Austin and Emeigh each had an assist. Jordan Carter had 3 saves on 5 shots for the 2-0-1 Eagles.

Josh Gale had 9 saves on 16 shots for 2-2 George Stevens.

Girls soccer

Hodgdon 10, East Grand 1

At Danforth, Dayna Tidd and Sam Lycette each scored three goals as Hodgdon improved its record to 3-3-1.

Kariann Estabrook added two goals for the Hawks, while Britta Oliver and Taylor McGary had one goal each.

Taylor Hovey made four saves on 10 shots for Hodgdon.

Kelsey Daoust scored for 0-4 East Grand, while Courtney Lloyd made 23 saves on 38 shots for the Vikings.

Van Buren 7, Wisdom 1

At St. Agatha, Lindsay LaJoie and Haley Lizotte each scored two goals to power the Crusaders to victory.

Kristy Learnard, Jen Ouellette and Natasha Bourgoin tallied one goal apiece for 6-3 Van Buren, while Brittany Duprey added an assist. Ashlie Wilson made two saves on three shots.

Chelsea Collin scored the goal for 0-9 Wisdom. Deliya Michaud made 10 saves on 25 shots.

So. Aroostook 3, Katahdin 0

At Dyer Brook, Brittany Charette scored a first-half goal off an assist from Evangeline Goodall, giving the Warriors the only goal they would need.

Janel Rockwell and Jasmine Rockwell scored a goal each for 6-0 Southern Aroostook to back Emily Cummings, who made five saves on 11 shots.

Jade Clippinger made 15 saves on 25 shots for 0-4 Katahdin of Stacyville.

Washington Acad. 6, Woodland 2

At East Machias, Irene Lewey scored three goals as the Raiders improved to 2-0 on the season.

Andi Flannery added two goals and Alice McBride scored once for Washington Academy, while Jesse Hardy made two saves on four shots in goal.

Molly White scored twice for 1-3 Woodland. Taylor Cochran made five saves on 16 shots.

Greenville 5, Richmond 1

At Richmond, McKenna Peat scored two goals as the Lakers earned their first victory of the season.

Tiffany Howard, Ruby Rockwell and Gretel Breton each added a goal for 1-0-1 Greenville, while Nikki Hamilton and Miranda Drinkwater had two assists apiece.

Sidney Richardson made seven saves on 17 shots for Greenville.

Danica Hurley scored for 1-1 Richmond, while Lindsey Hoopingarner made 13 saves on 32 shots.

Field hockey

Bangor 3, Mount Ararat 2 (2 OT)

At Bangor, Dana Libhart scored off an assist from Casey Pray with 50 seconds remaining in the second overtime, lifting the Rams to victory.

Brittany Chapman scored twice for 2-0 Bangor, with Libhart and Pray posting the assists. Hilary Babin and Melissa Mower each made four saves on six shots.

Holly Christopher scored both goals for 0-3 Mount Ararat of Topsham, including the game-tying tally with less than three minutes left in regulation. Kelly Galek made seven saves on 13 shots.

JV: Bangor 2-0
