STANDISH – A Standish man was in custody Friday after allegedly shooting his younger brother in a dispute over property rights.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office alleges that Kenneth Brooks, 66, shot Chester Brooks, 55, in the lower right leg Friday on Cape Road, where the brothers live next door to each other. Officials said the wound appeared minor.

Kenneth Brooks was found nearby and arrested without incident. He was charged with aggravated assault and reckless conduct with a firearm.
