WISCASSET – Jeff Burgess of East Madison picked the right time of the year to shift things into high gear.
After starting in the middle of the pack in Saturday night’s Clark’s Car Crushing Pro Stock feature race at Wiscasset Raceway, he picked his way to the front in the 50-lap feature and notched his third victory of the season and second straight in the track’s top division.
Burgess has cut series point leader Randy Turner’s advantage in half by winning three of his last five races and trails by 10 points with one race left on Sept. 27.
Turner finished in sixth place while Wiscasset’s Chuck Colby was second. Ryan Deane of Winterport was third, John Phippen of Bar Harbor fourth, and Scott Moore of Anson fifth.

Oxford Plains Speedway
At Oxford, Patrick Laperle of St. Denis, Quebec dominated the final 101 laps of the 150-lap New England Dodge Dealers 150 American-Canadian Tour race Saturday at Oxford Plains Speedway.
Laperle tookt he lead over from Glen Luce of Turner on lap 50 and survived a brief battle with ACT rookie Nick Sweet of Barre, Vt., after the third and last restart on lap 144.
Sweet finished second overall, Luce was third, Joey Polewarczyk, Jr., of Hudson, N.H., was fourth and Turner’s Shawn Martin was fifth.

Winterport Dragway
Bob Cousins of Brewer claimed first place Saturday in the Gamblers Race at Winterport Dragway.
Robin Reynolds placed second, while Donnie Perkins of Blue Hill reached the semifinals.
Sunday’s action was postponed by rain and will be held Sept. 21.
