AUGUSTA – Maine will play host to the 32nd conference of the New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers this week.
The conference today and Tuesday in Bar Harbor will focus on regional energy, transportation and economic development issues. Gov. John Baldacci and New Brunswick Premier Shawn Graham are co-chairmen.
Baldacci said the meetings offer an unusual opportunity to build on the combined strengths of the region.
The governor said all six New England governors and all five of the eastern Canadian premiers are scheduled to participate.
Also expected to attend are the U.S. ambassador to Canada, David Wilkins, and the Canadian ambassador to the U.S., Michael Wilson.
