Presque Isle girls deal Coyotes their 1st loss

OLD TOWN – The Presque Isle girls soccer team controlled play from start to finish Thursday as the Wildcats shut out Old Town 3-0, handing the Coyotes their first loss.

Sarah Porter gave 4-1 Presque Isle a 1-0 halftime lead with an assist from Chelsea Nickerson, then Kayla Legassie (unassisted) and Mackenzie Pinette, off a Katrina Whittier assist, added second-half scores. Goalkeeper Kelsey Park made four saves on six shots.

Anna Cashion made nine saves on 22 shots for the 4-1 Coyotes.

JV: Presque Isle 7-2

Katahdin 3, Hodgdon 2

HODGDON – Olivia McNally, Brooke Livezey and Jalisa Moore scored first-half goals to help lead Katahdin of Stacyville past Hodgdon 3-2 in girls soccer action Thursday.

Melissa Duffy and Mary-Jo Robinson provided assists for the 2-4 Cougars. Jade Clippinger stopped eight of 12 shots.

Taylor Hovey and Dayne Tidd scored second-half goals for the 4-4-1 Hodgdon Hawks. Emmaly Jurson turned away 10 of 28 shots.

Woodland 1, Southern Aroostook 1 (2OT)

At Woodland, Taylor Cochran of Woodland and Emily Cummings of Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook didn’t allow a goal through two overtimes to force a tie.

Julia Nicholas scored the tying goal with 27:52 remaining in regulation for 3-2-1 Woodland. Cochran blocked 11 of 16 shots.

Elizabeth Goodall scored on a penalty kick with 36:01 left in the first half for 7-0-1 Southern Aroostook. Cummings made seven saves on 10 shots.

LCS/MSSM 4, Central Aroostook 3

At Limestone, Kellie Peers scored the winning goal off a Jasmine Cote assist with 21:04 remaining in regulation to lead Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics past Central Aroostook of Mars Hill.

Peers had two other goals for the 5-5 Eagles. Freshman Stephanie Leighton scored her first career goal and Ashlyn Kelly provided an assist. Caitlin Good made three saves on eight shots.

Sarah Michaud led 4-8 Central Aroostook with a goal and an assist. Kristen Long and Rachel Grew also scored. Desray Brewer blocked three of 13 shots.

Bangor 2, Waterville 1

At Waterville, Mack Susi scored from about 12 yards out on a pass from Phil Frost with about a minute left in the game to give the Rams the victory.

Frost scored Bangor’s first goal 14 minutes into the game off a Ryan Larochelle pass for the 4-0 Rams. Alan Reese made seven saves on eight shots.

Jake Sirois scored unassisted 11 minutes into the game for 3-2 Waterville and Nick Lee finished with five saves on seven shots.

JV: Bangor 1-0

Boys soccer

Katahdin 9, Hodgdon 0

At Hodgdon, four players scored two goals apiece as Katahdin of Stacyville shutout Hodgdon.

Marshall Davis, Kolby Gallagher, Ethan Qualey and Brandon Landry each scored two goals for 6-0 Katahdin. Billy Duffy added a goal as Matt Tarr made two saves on six shots.

Dan McGillicuddy blocked nine of 27 shots for 2-6 Hodgdon.

Fort Fairfield 1, Van Buren 0

At Van Buren, Josh Churchill scored an unassisted goal in the first half to lead Fort Fairfield past Van Buren.

Austin Dufour earned the shutout for 6-3 Fort Fairfield.

Travis Chabre was in goal for 1-10-1 Van Buren.

Madawaska 3, Caribou 1

At Madawaska, Jon Lee scored two goals to lead Madawaska past Caribou.

Nathan A. Beaulieu scored in the first half for 9-0-2 Madawaska. Mike Cannan, Chris Lizotte and Jacques Daigle provided assists. Nate P. Beaulieu made four saves on eight shots.

Brandon Caverhill scored a first-half goal off a Cameron Anderson assists for 4-2-1 Caribou. Eric Brown blocked seven of 18 shots.

JV: Madawaska 2-0

Field hockey

Nokomis 1, Waterville 0

At Newport, Jordin McGinnis scored with 9:01 left in the first half off a Alison Berg assist to lift Nokomis over Waterville.

Maria Adams stopped all eight shots for 5-0-1 Nokomis.

Jasmine Bishop made four saves on five shots for 2-3 Waterville.

JV: Nokomis 1-0

Bangor 2, Lawrence 0

At Bangor Breianna Tocci and Brittany Chapman scored goals for the 3-1 Rams with assists from Hillary Throckmorton and Ashley Higgins. Hilary Babin and Melissa Mower shared goaltending duties making seven saves on eight shots.

Jordan Carter made four saves on six shots in goal for the 2-2-1 Bulldogs.

Belfast 2, Oak Hill 0

At Sabattus, Crystle Kirby scored the decisive goal in the first half to lead Belfast past Oak Hill.

Kirby scored on a penalty corner with assists from Ori Downs and Danielle Littlefield. Littlefield added an insurance goal in the second half off a Downs assist. Paxton Mohney recorded her second shutout for 4-1 Belfast by stopping all five shots.

Sara LaCroix made eight saves on 10 shots for 2-4 Oak Hill.

JV: Belfast 4-0

Maranacook 5, Camden Hills 0

At Rockport, five different players scored goals as the Maranacook Black Bears of Readfield shut out the Windjammers.

Sierra Boucher, Zoie Kaley, Haley Pierce, Meghan Surette, and Ally Kennedy each scored a goal for the 3-2 Bears. Darcy Wilkins made two saves on two shots.

Sarah Nason made 15 saves on 20 shots.

JV: Camden Hills 2-0
