The Maine Snowmobile Association has endorsed Republicans John McCain and Sarah Palin for president and vice president, the McCain-Palin campaign announced Friday.

“Snowmobilers will find strong allies in John McCain and Sarah Palin,” MSA Executive Director Bob Meyers said in a statement. “Their commitment to conservation and the principle that it is every citizen’s duty to be good stewards of our natural resources are major reasons why we are throwing our support behind McCain and Palin. We encourage snowmobilers in Maine and across the country to give their candidacy strong consideration.”

The Maine Snowmobile Association represents 30,000 individuals and 2,000 businesses belonging to 287 snowmobile clubs statewide.

The members maintain more than 14,000 miles of snowmobile trails in Maine.
