St. Albans stabbing sends 2 to hospitals

ST. ALBANS – Police were still trying to sort out the details of a stabbing that occurred Sunday evening at 767 Todds Corner Road.

Two men were injured in the 7 p.m. incident, according to detective Lt. Carl Gottardi of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department.

Gottardi said he could not release the names of the victims or details of the incident “because we’re still trying to interview people and sort things out.”

He said that a report was initially received at the Somerset County Communications Center that one man came uninvited to the home of one of the victims and an altercation ensued.

Gottardi would not confirm which victim lived at the residence. He also would not confirm that children were in the home at the time of the stabbing.

Both men involved were in their 30s, Gottardi said.

The stabbing victim was taken to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield by ambulance and later flown to Eastern Maine Medical Center. Gottardi said he was not sure of the severity of the man’s wounds.

The man with head injuries was being treated at SVH, Gottardi said, and was likely to be released. No one has been charged in the incident, but the case remained under investigation, Gottardi said.

Somerset County Deputy Michael Ross is the primary investigator, and Gottardi said he was assisted at the scene by Maine State Police troopers.
