Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Maine could certainly use your help, reports program assistant Jamie Brooks.
The Ellsworth organization “is partnering with area elementary schools to provide on-site mentoring for children who could use a caring friend,” Brooks wrote of the program that is school-based.
Brooks describes this particular program as “a terrific way to become involved in a child’s life through a supportive, supervised environment” for children between the ages of 7 and 14.
She especially wants you to know that to become a volunteer mentor, you “don’t need any special skills, just an interest in helping children in the community.”
Volunteer mentors receive training, ongoing support and supervision from Big Brother Big Sister staff and they and their little brothers or little sisters will have access to materials that the program provides.

Admission for the dress rehearsal is a donation, Erb wrote.

Sunshine Kids Foundation is “a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support to children with cancer,” wrote Jan Currier in announcing a fundraiser for that organization.
