Old Town Riverfest offers 3 days of fun

Old Town will hold its annual Riverfest Friday through Sunday, Sept. 26-28, at the Riverfront Park. The schedule is:

Friday, Sept. 26

. Homecoming soccer games at Victory Field, Old Town vs. Bucksport.

. Inflatable games and free ice cream, 7:15 p.m.

. Chili Cook-off.

. Street dance with music by DJ Dale Saucier and Elvis tribute artist Joey Loring.

. Fireworks, 9:15 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 27

. Parade with parade Grand Marshal Nancy Nahra, an Old Town elementary school teacher who retired this year, 10 a.m. Parade begins at Old Town High School, continues down Stillwater Avenue to Main Street and ends in the Holy Family Church parking lot.

. Activities during the day, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. include games, University of Maine woodsmen’s demonstration, jousting, obstacle course, bounce houses, pony rides and dunk tank, C.H.I.P.S. child ID program, Elks chicken barbecue, Old Town Booster Club hot dogs, hamburgers, french fries and doughboys, and red hots and brats from the Old Town Fire Department. Also pony rides, wagon rides, firefighter’s muster, canoe and kayak demonstrations and rides on the river. There will be booths for snow cones, lemonade, bake sales, chili, baked beans and other food.

. Featured entertainers will be The Ripchords, Step in Time Cloggers and Guitar Hero.

. Western Flyers Band, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Marsh Island Apartments parking lot. Free hot dogs and food sale.

Sunday, Sept. 30

. Animal Orphanage Fun Dog Show and Blessing of the Animals, noon-1 p.m. registration; blessing at noon, show at 1 p.m., Old Town-Orono YMCA.

Riverfest committee members are Margaret Baker, Dottie deBruyne, Janice Clark, Sam Downs, Mike Georgia, Debbie Gilman, Alan Greenleaf, Frank Greenleaf, Patti Hogan, Brenda Martell, Angel Matson, Carol May, Gloria Messier and Caryle Willette.
