James likes playing sports

James, born in 1993, likes to watch sports games. His favorite sports are basketball, soccer, and football. He likes to play football at recess with his friends.

James also enjoys spending time at camp. In the winter he likes to ice fish and snowmobile. In the summer he goes swimming, fishing and plays outside. He enjoys going to youth group every week. He loves to have visits with his sisters; they do lots of fun things together.

James has many favorite things. His favorite sports team is the Boston Red Sox, his favorite color is blue, his favorite food is pepperoni pizza, his favorite holiday is Christmas and his favorite game is “Monopoly.” Some of his dislikes are going to school, getting in trouble and being bored.

James is a very quiet boy, but he will open up as he gets to know you. James struggles with school; reading is particularly hard for him. James loves doing activities with others. He loves to feel included and part of the group.

James will need a family who will include him in outdoor activities and going out to eat. James needs a family that will be able to show him the love and acceptance that he needs but that will also set limits and have him own up to those limits. James needs a family that will challenge him, one that will not accept his answers of “I don’t know” and push him forward.

An adoption subsidy may be available for the most appropriate family. James is one of the 147 children currently in Maine Department of Health & Human Service’s care who is seeking an adoptive family. Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with Maine DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care.
