JOHNSON, Vt. – Josh Bartlett and Tyler Metevier each netted a goal in the first half to lead the Husson University men’s soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Johnson State Sunday.

The Eagles outshot Johnson State 24-4. Miguel Dominguez did not need to make any saves for the 5-5 Eagles.

Andy Lane made 14 saves for 6-4 Johnson State.

USM 2, UMass-Boston 1

At Portland, Adam Gadbois netted a goal six minutes into overtime to lift the University of Southern Maine over UMass-Boston.

Peter McHugh scored the first goal for USM in the first half on a pass from Chris Gassman. David Kreps made five saves for the 7-2-1 Huskies.

Dom Persuitte finished with three saves for the 2-6 Beacons.

NMCC 2, SMCC 0

At Presque Isle on Sunday, second-half goals by Michael Libby and Luke Ireland (penalty kick) gave Northern Maine Community College its second win against three losses.

Craig Hamann assisted on Libby’s goal and goalkeeper Sam Petrie made three saves on six shots.

Bryan Piascenzny had 10 stops on 21 shots for Southern Maine Community College.

UMF 3, Green Mountain 0

At Poultney, Vt. on Saturday, James Tollefson scored two goals to spark the University of Maine-Farmington.

Sam Boynton chipped in with a goal while Sean Raph, Dylan Moreau and Daniel Horne each had an assist. Matthew Dennett made 11 saves on 14 shots for the 3-3 Beavers.

Ryder Ritchie stopped 17 of 29 shots for 0-11 Green Mountain.

Castleton State 3, UMF 2

At Castleton, Vt. on Sunday, Sean Fitzgerald scored with 30 minutes remaining in the game to lift Castleton State past the University of Maine-Farmington.

Mike Anthony stopped four shots for the 6-5 Spartans.

James Tollefson scored two goals for UMF during the first four minutes of the second half. Matthew Dennett made four saves for the 3-4 Beavers.

Johnson State 1, MMA 0

At Johnson, Vt. on Saturday, Ryan Demars scored the game’s only goal at 64:41 to lead Johnson State by Maine Maritime Academy.

Andy Lane stopped all four shots he faced for 6-3 Johnson State. Jeff Butland made five saves on 13 shots for the 2-5 Mariners.

MMA 1, Lyndon State 0

At Lyndon Center, Vt., Nate Tipton scored the game’s only goal less than 10 minutes into the second half as Maine Maritime Academy topped Lyndon State on Sunday.

Jeff Butland stopped seven shots to record the shutout for the 4-5 Mariners.

Ian Oliver and Jeff Giroux combined to make five saves for Lyndon State.

Castleton State 2, Thomas 1

At Castleton, Vt. on Saturday, Nick Johnson scored the game-winning goal with 4:47 left in the game to propel Castleton State by Thomas College.

Gerrit Marino scored for 5-5 Castleton State five minutes prior to Johnson’s goal to tie the game. Mike Anthony made three saves on 10 shots.

Eric Walton netted the goal for Thomas in the first half. James Gorneau stopped seven of 27 shots for the 2-6 Terriers.

Thomas 3, Green Mountain 2

At Poultney, Vt. on Sunday, Tim Costa tallied two goals, including the game-winner 22 minutes into the second half as Thomas College edged Green Mountain.

Mark Corey added a goal while Tom Desjardins and Eric Walton each had an assist for Thomas. James Gorneau and Anthony Wheeler combined to make six saves on 12 shots for the 3-6 Terriers.

Ryder Ritchie made six saves on 18 shots for 0-12 Green Mountain.

Women’s soccer

Castleton State 7, Thomas 0

At Castleton, Vt., Castleton State scored six first-half goals en route to the Saturday win.

Courtney Chadburn had three goals and one assist to lead Castleton State. Nakita Baldic stopped the only shot she faced for the 5-3 Spartans.

Lindsey Gove made 20 saves on 38 shots for the 3-5-1 Terriers.

At Castleton, Vt., Courtney Chadburn scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 40th minute to spark Castleton State by the University of Maine-Farmington.

Cady Kerin stopped all three shots she faced to earn the shutout.

Mckell Barnes stopped nine shots for the 3-4 Beavers.

MMA 2, Johnson State 0

At Johnson, Vt., Diana Manatt-Rogers posted two goals to lift Maine Maritime Academy by Johnson State on Saturday.

Lacey Jackson made three saves on seven shots for the 4-5-1 Mariners. Elizabeth Wallace stopped five of 17 shots for 3-6 Johnson State.

MMA 0, Lyndon State 0 (2OT)

At Lyndon Center, Vt., Maine Maritime Academy and Lyndon State fought to a scoreless tie through two overtimes Sunday.

Lacey Jackson made four saves on seven shots for the 4-5-2 Lady Mariners.

Natalia Shams stopped six of 11 shots for the 4-4-1 Lady Hornets.

UMBC 1, Maine 0

At Baltimore, Md., Danielle Kell scored the game’s only goal at 60:59 to lead the University of Maryland Baltimore County by Maine on Sunday.

Christine Bacinski made three saves on six shots for the 2-9 Retrievers. Jasmine Phillips stopped two of seven shots for the 3-2-4 Black Bears.

Husson 12, Johnson State 0

At Johnson, Vt., Shelby Bradford scored three goals and grabbed three assists as Husson University cruised past Johnson State.

Laurie Melen, Amy Sanz, Megan Clement, Katie Nickerson, Megan Lajoie, Caitlyn Butterfield, Katelyn Cloutier, Katie Nickerson and Suzeline Van Dine each added a goal for 7-2 Husson. Roxlyn Peterson did not face any shots for the Eagles.

Elizabeth Wallace made 12 saves on 41 shots for 3-7 Johnson State.

Green Mountain 6, Thomas 0

At Poultney, Vt. on Sunday, Amanda Jeffers posted a pair of goals as Green Mountain rolled past Thomas College.

Karen Davidson stopped three of 10 shots for 4-5 Green Mountain.

Jessica Nassetta and Lindsey Gove combined to make 10 saves on 24 shots for the 3-6-1 Terriers.

Field hockey

USM 3, Eastern Conn. 2

At Portland on Saturday, Allison Hill made nine saves and blocked a penalty shot with 47 seconds remaining in the game to help the University of Southern Maine by Eastern Connecticut State.

India Lowe scored what proved to be the game-winning goal. Bethany Bougie and Rolinda Mitchell each added a goal for 3-4 USM. Danielle Reichardt and Allison Hill combined to make 13 saves on 16 shots for the Huskies.

Tia Mucciarone stopped six of 20 shots for 1-6 Eastern Connecticut.

Providence 6, Maine 3

At Providence, R.I., Nellie Poulin and Jamie Lipski each scored two goals to spark Providence College by Maine on Sunday.

Rachel Chamberlain made four saves on 10 shots for 6-4 Providence.

Stephanie Gardiner, Jocelyn Mitchell and Kallie Aldus each scored a goal for Maine. Brittany Fieck stopped three of 14 shots for the 4-4 Black Bears.

At Waterville, the Colby College Mules christened their new Harold Alfond Stadium with a victory.

Colby quarterback Patrick Burns completed 11 of 21 passes for 92 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for 62 yards on 13 carries.
