BREWER – By the time most readers pick up their paper today, city councilors already will have held a special meeting to review if a resident should be allowed to move a portable classroom on Parkway South to his land on Wiswell Road.

The emergency meeting is at 7:30 a.m. and there are only two items on the agenda – a public hearing about moving the building, and the council’s vote on whether to allow the building to be moved.

Gordon Brewer purchased a portable classroom used at the closed and now demolished Pendleton Street School and would like to move it to his property at 389 Wiswell Road, but needs a city permit to do so.

If approved, “contractors have been hired to move the building immediately,” the emergency order states.
