Exhaust fan open door for burglar in Waldo

WALDO – An exhaust fan became a portal for a burglar who entered Thompson’s Variety overnight Sunday and made off with a small amount of cash.

Waldo County Sheriff’s Detective Merl Reed said the break-in was reported at 5:10 a.m. Monday by an employee arriving for work. Reed said an exhaust fan at the rear of the store had been forced open.

Waldo County Deputy Glenn Graef and Belfast Detective Michael McFadden assisted in processing the crime scene, Reed said Monday.
