ST. GEORGE – Emily Worm, new youth coordinator at Jackson Memorial Library, will lead special library programs designed for St. George young people and provide library support to local nonprofit organizations serving youths.

Worm and Lorie Hoyt-Nguyen, a former St. George School teacher, have scheduled a kickoff pizza party Oct. 14 at the town office for grades five to eight Boys and Girls Book Club students and mentors.

Worm became an active participant in the Summer Reading Program, a national program sponsored by the National Collaborative Summer Library Program, which is offered annually at Jackson Memorial Library.

Each month the library provides copies of a book for all participants. The one-to-one program pairs children with adult mentors who share their thoughts and experiences about the book. During the school year, separate potluck suppers are held monthly to provide an opportunity for everyone to share time together as a group. Both mentors and children keep the books upon completion

Anyone interested in becoming a mentor for the Boys or Girls Book Clubs or assisting Worm with other young people’s programming should contact the library at 372-8961 or emily.worm@gmail.com.
