HERMON – The internationally known Young Americans will perform at a dinner theater show at 6:30 p.m. today at Morgan Hill Event Center.
“[The dinner theater] is such a treat,” said Morita Tapley, founder and director of Morita’s School of Dance. “We never had the time or the place to do that before. The Young Americans have touched more lives than we would have dreamed of.”
Tapley first became aware of The Young Americans in 1989 when she attended a dance festival in Hollywood, where she watched their rehearsal. It took 10 years before Maine was on their tour schedule. The group came to Maine in 1999, 2002 and 2005 – and again this week.
Among those with the Young Americans troupe this time was Grace Livingston of Veazie, who has taught workshops and performed on tours in Germany and Japan. She first saw the group as an eighth-grader.
The cost for the 6:30 p.m. dinner theater is $25, $15 age 12 and younger. Preregistration is required. Call Tapley at 848-5083 or the event center, 848-7100.
