A news anchor with CNN in Atlanta sought a restraining order against a Lewiston man who claimed her body language on television told him to travel to Atlanta to meet her in person, the Lewiston Sun Journal reported Tuesday. Robin Meade, an anchor for the cable network’s affiliate Headline News, was advised by Atlanta police to seek a restraining order against Gregory Fitzgerald, 32, of Lewiston, the Sun Journal reported, citing an Atlanta Journal-Constitution article published Monday. Meade hosts the network’s morning show “Morning Express with Robin Meade.” Police did not arrest Fitzgerald, but did serve him with a restraining order before he returned home to Maine, according to the Atlanta paper. The newspaper reported that a CNN security official called police about Fitzgerald on Sept. 17, after he showed up in person outside CNN’s Atlanta headquarters. He told police that Meade had invited him to visit by “waving her hands, blinking her eyes and crossing her legs on television.” He also allegedly has e-mailed Meade more than 30 times since November 2007, according to CNN. Fitzgerald’s stepfather, Paul Stufflebeam, told the Journal-Constitution that the family spoke with their mentally disabled son about the incident and intended to seek professional help for him.
