LEWISTON – A 71-year-old Maine woman is going to jail for supplying drugs to a woman who later died of an overdose.

A judge is letting Lucille Russell of Lewiston have surgery on her foot before reporting to jail on Oct. 10 to serve a six-month sentence.

Russell and 43-year-old Michelle Olds of Lewiston were each charged with aggravated furnishing of the drug Fentanyl. The victim, Lisa Nicholson, died Jan. 21, 2007, at her parents’ home in Winthrop as the result of taking Fentanyl and OxyContin.

Russell told the Sun Journal newspaper that she barely knew Nicholson and had no idea that the drugs supplied to her would result in death.
