ETNA – Investigators with the State Fire Marshal’s Office were mum Thursday on details of a fire that destroyed an Etna home late Monday night.

The fire was reported by a neighbor about 11:35 p.m. and firefighters from eight communities fought the blaze until early morning. The home at 1212 Route 143, also known as Lakins Road, was destroyed, leaving a charred shell.

The residents were not home at the time of the fire and no one was injured.

On Wednesday, State Fire Marshal’s Office Investigator Timothy York would say only that the fire remains under investigation. He would not provide any information on a cause or whether it was of human element and would not confirm reports that the property had been booby-trapped before firefighters’ arrival.
